Nemesis (Companion Star of Sun) Theory or Reality?

With the advancement in technology, we have the ability to look beyond the visible range in space with the help of the infrared and various types of telescopes. With the help of these telescopes, researchers discover lots of nebulas, galaxies, etc. But when researchers look beyond the clouds where the stars used to form they found that every star similar to the Sun forms a binary system with the other Companion star. So where is the Companion star of the Sun ???

Hypothetical Companion Star of the Sun is called Nemesis which is considered to be Red dwarf or Brown Dwarf. Originally the Theory was postulated in 1984, that Nemesis is orbiting the Sun at the distance of about 95000AU (1.5 Light Years), somewhere beyond the Oort Cloud to explain a perceived cycle of mass extinctions in the geological record, which seems to occur more often at intervals of 26 million years. The paper published in 2017,  in which argued that the Sun was likely part of a binary system at the time of its formation.

Debate on Nemesis Existence

In the early 1980s, scientists observed that extinctions on Earth were regarded to fall in a cyclical pattern. Mass extinctions appear to arise extra often each 27 million years. The lengthy-time precipitated them to show to astronomical occasions for an explanation.

In 1984, Richard Muller physicist of UCB University of California Berkley working on this theory wrote a book on the subject "Nemesis the Death Star". He suggests in his book that a red dwarf 95000 AU away may be responsible for the mass extinction.

According to Scientist Nemesis may affect the Oort cloud, Oort cloud is the cloud of predominantly icy planetesimals proposed to surround the Sun at distances ranging from 0.3 to 3.2 light-years beyond the range of Pluto. Many of the debris from the Oort Cloud travels around the Sun in the long term, in an elliptical orbit. When the distance between them and Sun is minimum, their ice begins to melt and stream behind them, making them recognizable as comets.

Some arguments are like that every 27 millions Nemesis travels through Oort cloud and kick out extra comets from the sphere and send them hurling towards the inner solar system and Earth. Because of that probability of impact with Earth increase and that causes the mass extinctions.

Nemesis could also sheared off the well defined outer edge of the Kuiper Belts, a disk of debris that lies inside the solar system. Researchers also found many other system where the Nemesis may have affect.

Sedna a trans-Neptunian object or dwarf planet is orbiting around the Sun in a very unusual elliptical path, it takes around 11400 years to complete one rotation around the Sun. Scientists have theories that massive object like Sedna can be keep away from the Sun by the star only.

There are many theories related to the existence of the Sun Companion Star Nemesis. Scientists argued and debate the existence of the Nemesis. Finally in 2017 studies suggest that all young stars in the Perseus molecular cloud and find all the stars similar to the Sun are born with their companion Star by creating the virtual modeling. Finally, if Nemesis exists it will free away from the Sun in early history and moved in the milky way described in the new study.
